My Little Treasures Quilt is done now.

2 Incorporate the „Golden Section“

Round 2

3 Use at least 5 lines, thereof at least 4 which start from an outer edge and which end within the piece.

1 At least 1 square

1 At least 3 different shades of blue

Round 3

2 At least two colours on the colour wheel neighbouring to blue (purple, teal, violet-blue)

3 At least 1 solid fabric

Round 4

5 A different stitch than usual

5 Binding at pleasure

It posed some challenges:

Circular… not the quilt format I usually work with

Blue… not my favorite colour

Quilting… I usually do it freestyle at the machine

… But I gladly accepted the challeng. :)

Blue is not my favorite colour, so at first I was unsure what to do. After some browsing I found a beautiful blue Murano glass vase from a holiday at venice. So I decided to quilt a round, blue doily.

Including the „Golden Section“ was some nice playing, the square proved to be the harder challenge as it disrupted the overall picture somehow. So I used one of my favorite techniques, „the spot technique“, and included over 200 square.

The „different stitch than usual“ did also pack a punch. My machine has uncountable embroidery stitches I never use, so I took the opportunity to learn about the machine … with the result that I spend 3 nights undoing as I did not like the embroidery stitch on the quilt.

It was all the more enjoyable to hold the finished quilt I would never have done this way. Sometimes it is good to step out of the own comfort zone!
