The Houston block is an original design combining the classic and all-time favourite Lone Star with the equally popular Log Cabin patterns. As with all the other previous BOM blocks, we used reproduction fabrics in rather demure colours, but the block would certainly look stunning in more riotous colour combinations... The name of this quilt alludes to the Arts & Crafts Movement which started in the UK during the second half of the 19th century. One of the most important members of this group of artists was William Morris. His designs for wallpaper and soft furnishings have inspired  fabric designers ever since and in recent years there have been collections of quilt fabric based on William Morris’s designs.... Bonus: Lady of the Lake Cushion

At Quilt around the World, all patterns are explained in a lot of detail and include pictures for every important step. This means that for quilts that come to us already in a finished or semi-finished state, we re-sew all parts as necessary.

This was the case for the Lady of the Lake quilt. The top was almost finished when we bought it. The Lady of the Lake block is not very difficult to make, but still has some interesting details that needed to be documented properly. So we made a sample block to make the “photo shooting” and verify the appropriate measurements... (11 March 2011)

The name “Jacobi Rose” is taken from the Jacobi Dult. This is the summer version of the famous Auer Dult and among the three annual Dults, the Jacobi Dult is the oldest. In 2010, it was held for the 700th time... (3 January 2011)
