...for a long time we have wanted to create a quilt that can be changed by the people looking at it! It took us some months to come up with a concept that might achieve the desired effect and this is the result: A huge Ninepatch “block” made up of nine small, framed quilts whose (machine quilted) quilt lines seem to travel across the space between the individual blocks... Is it only our imagination that flowers blooming in later summer tend more and more towards yellow, yellow-orange and orange, until finally August and September bring an onslaught of purple? It doesn’t matter if we just imagined the subtle change of colour, we wanted to have a cheerful and sunny fabric bowl to put on a rather gloomy shelf. Also to be looked at in a few months time when the weather turns chilly and the sun prefers the southern hemisphere... (31 July 2011)

Die 5 Grazien (The 5 Belles)

The 5 Belles were inspired by our latest acquisitions for our Accuquilt GO! fabric cutter. Among the available dies, there are several very pretty flower designs and we wanted to try them all in one project. Should you neither own an Accuquilt GO! fabric cutter with the dies used here, nor have access via one of your quilting friends, don’t despair: We have designed five “graceful” flower motifs for you to download (see next article in this book). And you could of course always design your own Belles of the meadow... (26 June 2011)
