All blocks sent in for our Where do you come from Block Pattern Collection.
You have probably been wondering what is happening with your "Where do you come from?" blocks and with the community quilt. Here, you can see how the world's hopefully most extraordinary quilt slowly develops...
We are very happy and quite proud that the organizers of Nadelwelt 2017 in Karlsruhe, Germany, have given us - in addition to the very generous space for IBS3 - the opportunity to show the "Where do you come from?" quilt at this year's Nadelwelt.
Don't miss the opportunity to see this very special quilt displayed and to talk to some of the team behind this project....
Here it is - the finished Where do you come from? quilt....
Time is flying and you're probably wondering what happened to our community quilt....
After many many hours of quilting stitch by stitch during our weekly Monday evening quilting bees and at home, the first two panels of our monumental community quilt are done. No. 3 is just a few stitches away from being finished as well....
The journey is the reward
This motto is definitely true for hand-quilting. If you aim to see quick results, you’re better off using your machine for sewing and quilting. When you practice hand-quilting, however, it’s the going, not the getting there that matters most...
Finally, the huge package with the wool batting had arrived at our office and so we met again on Monday night to prepare the first three sandwiches, select matching handquilting threads and suitable needles and discuss about quilting patterns...
This week, we had an "offsite meeting" at Derry's house instead of our little creative office because we wanted to see the finished quilt top in its full beauty...
Sewing Finale
It’s official. We’re done with sewing. The last block, the last sashing, the last seam, the last stitch – our quilt top is finished.
We wish you a very Happy New Quilt Year 2016 around the world!
Yes, we're sewing again, almost at the finish line for our most extraordinary community quilt the world has ever seen. The 5th and final panel is the biggest with 5 columns but two of them are already done, including the one with the cute little block from our youngest participant Fedor from Russia. He was only 5 years old when he designed and sewed his block "Caucasian Fir". Isn't it just gorgeous? Keep up your great creative work, Fedor!!
