Name of the Quilt: Playing with Shapes II

Quilt: #1-1

Please note that we are publishing all entries for our archiTEXTure challenge* anonymously. We are doing this because all these pieces will be assessed by a team of international quilt judges. The professional ethics of judging quilts require that the maker remain anonymous as not to influence the judging by existing friendships or - hopefully rarely - animosities.

Artist Statement:

When taking a closer look at inspirational photo no. 1 (Living Bauhaus), I discovered different shapes, especially rectangles, narrow stripes, diamonds and triangles and in addition to that, different shades of colour from white to blue, mint, gray and deep black. I have studied these shapes and colors in more detail and playfully worked with them in 10 different square designs, paying attention to design principles like rhythm and repetition. The 10 squares were then arranged into a collage and quilted with the machine in different densities, resulting in interesting perspective effects.
