Men and the Art of Quiltmaking

Men have probably been quilting for many, many years, decades and even centuries. However, compared to quilting women, their numbers have always been so insignificant that the calculation of a percentage with less than three decimal digits wouldn’t have made any sense.

Lately, this very small minority in the quilting world has gained more momentum and an ever louder voice. More and more men become members in quilt guilds, become quilt and fabric designers and write books on all aspects of quiltmaking. As with us women, their styles are as diverse as are individuals. The book “Men and the Art of Quiltmaking” by Joe Cunningham gives a forum to 30 quilters, some of whom have been well known in the quilting world for years.... (28 April 2011)
