Wow, that was quick! We here at Quilt around the World are still sorting our sketchbook pages and QuiltyLoca already sent a sketch for the first My Year of Design exercise:

QuiltyLoca on how she put her design into fabric:

For me as a beginner my design was just too difficult for me to sew. That's why I chose a large triangle as detail and sewed it following Michi's great instructions about the tiffany technique. First, I drew the pattern completely on bondaweb and ironed it on colored fabrics. Then, I cut out the small pieces and ironed them onto dark blue background fabric.

Unfortunately, I couldn't buy a narrow bias tape, so I had to make one myself - without a bias tape former! This was very time consuming and certainly not the best solution for a large quilt in tiffany technique...

MYoD - Week 02 - QuiltyLoca - Block

The sewing of the bias tape was not so easy because you have to follow a certain order. But in the end, I was quite amazed how well it had worked out since it was the first time I had tried the tiffany technique. Thank you very much, dear Michi!
